Sustainable Bancroft Community Partnership

Are you one of Bancroft’s most sustainable citizens? Maybe your business or organization is working hard to be more sustainable or has completed some really interesting actions. Perhaps your family has made changes at home to live more sustainably.

What our research has shown is that a number of businesses, organizations and residents in Bancroft are doing things right now that are moving us closer to our vision for Sustainable Bancroft which is:

Our sustainable future will be based on thoughtful growth, health and wellness, creative expression and preservation of our natural environment.

We would like to invite you to become a community partner. All you need to do is to try out the sustainability checklist! This tool will help you, your family or your organization to see just how sustainable your home, your business or community organization already are. It can also be used to rate new projects, construction, renovations and programs. To become a community partner just open up the form on the left hand menu under Sustainable Bancroft Links and follow the instructions. If you have questions please contact sustainablebancroft@gmail.com.

We will be recognizing all of our community partners on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the North Hastings High School at 2:00 PM. The Community Sustainable Planning Committee of the Town of Bancroft is reporting to the people of Bancroft on our achievements for the past year and the areas where we need to do more work. Our report to the public will be held in conjunction with the second annual The Earth is Hiring Symposium which is being hosted by ReUseGreenTEC.

Some people ask “What do you mean by sustainable?” You can learn more about the definition of sustainability plus the way it is being used for Sustainable Bancroft exploring this web site.

Sustainable Bancroft to Recognize Businesses and Residents

Are you one of Bancroft’s most sustainable citizens? Maybe your business or organization is working hard to improve or has completed some really interesting actions. Maybe you have made a difference around the house or in your daily life.

On Monday, March 7, 2011, the Community Sustainable Planning Committee of the Town of Bancroft will be holding a public meeting to:
• release the second draft of Sustainable Bancroft
• gather final community input for the plan
• introduce a new tool you can use at home or in the workplace to determine just how sustainable you are
• determine the best way to recognize its most sustainable citizens.
.
Who is ‘the most sustainable’ group in town? We see this as a fun way to get people thinking about how to encourage their organization or the municipality to come up with new ideas for making Bancroft more sustainable.

“What do you mean by sustainable?” If you are confused about what sustainability means and why it is important to Bancroft, please check out our web site http://sustainablebancroft.blogspot.com or come to the public meeting and learn more with your friends and neighbours.

Please join us on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 at the North Hastings High School and everyone is welcome.

Our sustainable future will be based on thoughtful growth, health and wellness, creative expression and preservation of our natural environment.
